Originally scored for 2 violins, cello and double bass, they were later arranged as string quartets and rearranged as wind quintets. Utterly irresistible for their melodic charm and sheer exuberance, I just had to arrange them for flutes. Throw yourselves at them with abandon - but do listen to a good string performance first. I Musici of Milan, for example, are brilliant, and especially helpful on the slight rubati in the second movement’s dotted semiquavers. Note: I have kept to the original pitches as far as possible, avoiding 8ve transpostions.
