The Sailors’ Hornpipe, Tom Bowling, Spanish Ladies and the ’other’ hornpipe, Arethusa, are here arranged for piccolo, flute, alto flute and bass flute. This is a real winner for players and audience alike, particularly if the lower flutes can keep up a good speed. The pieces can, of course, be played with flutes doubling the piccolo and, at a pinch, with flutes taking the piccolo part completely. But do have at least one piccolo if at all possible.
