Polly is indignant that Lucy is still laying claim to poor old imprisoned MacHeath, and declares her indignation in this short song.

It was based on a tune called Constant Billy (though many claim you can hear more than a slight echo of The Ash Grove in it), and the song became famous in its own right - well enough known. in fact, for Beethoven to include it amongst his settings of Scottish (!) Songs for chamber ensemble and voice.
