Having persuaded his gang to go out robbing coaches without him, MacHeath settles down to an evening with all the "ladies" he can summon. Here he is anticipating their arrival.

The violin should be as soupy as possible, and if you're staging this, it's effective to have the fiddle on stage at this point. My sound card can't do justice to the rich violin tone required.

The original was a popular song of the day, "Would you have a Yougn Virgin of Fifteen Years", already used in another play, and sung to a melody widely known as "Poor Robin's Maggot"
