This presents Jeremiah Clarke’s "The Prince of Denmark’s March" in the much easier key of B-Flat Major, allowing an amateur trumpet player to double the violin I part. I wrote out the parts here, rather than having Sibelius just transpose the parts from the arrangement in the original key, because in the Sibelius transposition from the original, several of the cello notes go below the cello range. Here I have adjusted those notes within playing range (and smoothed out the cello lines from some of the resultant octave leaps).

Jeremiah Clarke’s "The Prince of Denmark March" is often falsely attributed to Henry Purcell as "Trumpet Voluntary in D" (because the piece was once published among a collection of works including those of Purcell). Jeremiah Clarke (1674-1707) originally wrote this work for harpsichord in 1700 (published in London in 1702). He later adapted it and included it in a suite for wind instruments. I have arranged it here for strings (with optional trumpet doubling the violin I part–the trumpet parts in both C and B-flat, although not listed in the score, are included in the set of instrumental parts). The piece is often requested for weddings. If you like this arrangement, visit my website at: http://members.sibeliusmusic.com/jjacklich/ where you will find many more arrangements for string quartet/string orchestra.
