Originally from Rhode Island, Tim Girard (b. 1978) received a Master of Music degree in Composition from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music in 2013. His composition teachers were Chris Malloy, Bill Hill, and Leanna Kirchoff. During his time at Lamont, Tim premiered works for percussion ensemble, piano solo, multi-percussion solo, two works for orchestra, and the beginning of his Complements series (in 2014, Complements V won second place at CU Boulder’s Colorado Clarinet Days Composition Competition). His final project at Lamont was an electronic setting of the Latin text, De profundis.

Since becoming a Lamont alumni, Tim has composed children’s operettas/musicals for Opera Colorado’s Page to Stage program (The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell, Everything's Coming Up Rosies, and The Comet's Curse), scores to short films (Synthia, Spirit Animal, Date, and I Can Diglett), music for video games (Invaders from Sector 255, Memories of Earth, and Bass Cannon: Cogs from Space Hell), music for competitions (Jungle Jeep Chase, Always Approaching, Never Reaching, and A Winter Carol), and orchestral works for the Lamont Symphony Orchestra’s New Music Concert (Desolation and Astronauts vs. Aliens).
