(2009) For snare drum duet.
All of my "Phase Puzzles" pieces were inspired by the phasing technique used by Steve Reich and others. The rhythms I choose to phase will eventually interlock and create constant 16th notes, which I consider solving the puzzle. For "Rudiment Phase Puzzles", I was able to do this (using a little artistic freedom) with all of the rudiments and turn them into a snare drum duet.
