CAROLS FOR AUDIENCE AND ORCHESTRA Many orchestras, both amateur and professional, have Christmas concerts in which they encourage the audience to ’sing-a-long’ some carols, so here’s the very thing! Arrangements that give the orchestra something different to play than a straight forward ’hymn-book’ harmonization. These are quite easy and will need little rehearsal. The conductor, or MC, should tell the audience that there is an introduction before each verse, where there is also a change of key to look out for. For the conductor - there are optional Codas - one very short and the other, a ’Big Finish’ for bringing the carol-sing section of your concert to a close!! All these ’Carols for Audience’ have been played by the Kent Concert Orchestra at their yearly Christmas Concerts in the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, and by other orchestras in Canada. Scoring: 2,2,2,2: 4,2,3,1: Timps. Snare and Cymbals; Harp & Strings. Please look at the other Carols for Audience and Orchestra.

Review: Excellent arrangement! I used this arrangement with a choir of 40 and audience of 500 and it was excellent. The arranger’s orchestral lines are supportive and interesting. They certainly add to the singing of a unison melody and are very creative. The score and parts are a bargain for this quality arrangement. I have purchased and used 3 of these carols for orchestra and audience and plan to buy several more. Robert Weiss Jr.
