Arrangements that give the orchestra something different to play than a straight forward ’hymn-book’ harmonization. These are quite easy and will need little rehearsal.
The conductor, or MC, should tell the audience that there is an introduction at the beginning and before the last verse, where there is also a change of key to look out for. For the conductor - there is an optional cut of one verse which is marked in the parts
All these ’Carols for Audience’ have been played by the Kent Concert Orchestra at their yearly Christmas Concerts in the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury and now by various orchestras all over the world due to the wonder of Sibelius.
Scoring: 2,2,2,2: 4,2,3,1: Timps. Snare and Bass Drums, Suspended Cymbal; Harp(optional); and Strings.
