CAROLS FOR AUDIENCE AND ORCHESTRA
Many orchestras, both amateur and professional, have Christmas concerts in which the audience is encouraged to ’sing-a-long’ some carols, so here is the very thing - an arrangement that gives the orchestra something more to do than just play a ’hymn-book’ version for every verse! The conductor, or MC, should tell the audience that there is an Intro. before each verse and that they should watch the conductor to bring them in!
All these ’Carols for Audience’ have been played by the Kent Concert Orchestra at their yearly Christmas Concerts in the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury and now by various orchestras all over the world due to the wonder of Sibelius.
Scoring: 1 Flute; 1 Picc.(Fl. 2) 2,2,2: 4,2,3,1: Timps: Sus. Cymb., S.Drum: Harp(optional): Strings. Please look at other ’Carols for Audience and Orchestra’.
[The MP3 is a recording (possibly a shade too fast) made on Dec. 17th, 2011, in Peterborough Cathedral (choir and orchestra of 200) Will Prideaux conducting.]

I am writing as Chair of the London Medical Orchestra committee to thank you for the carol arrangements. As you may know, we performed five of them at our Christmas concert on 14 December 2014. It was a hugely successful event, raising more than £1000 for Freedom from Torture as well as over £1000 for the orchestra, in order to enable us to continue to support medically-related charities and make great music. We played to a packed house, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed singing the carols with us, and were helped along in this by the Tottenham Community Choir.
I wish you all the best for 2015 and thank you again.
