Here is an arrangement that gives the orchestra something more to do than play a straight forward ’hymn-book’ version for every verse. The singers (audience) are in unison and the orchestra parts are simple enough to need little rehearsal. The conductor, or MC, should tell the audience that there is an intro. at the start and little ’link’ passages brtweeen the verses.
All these ’Carols for Audience’ have been played by the Kent Concert Orchestra at their annual Christmas Concerts in the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury and now by various orchestras all over the world due to the wonder of Sibelius.
Scoring: 2 (2nd Picc.),2,2,2 - 4,2,3,1 - Timps, Glock, Harp & Strings.
