Vaclav (or Wenzel) Pichl was born in Bohemia in 1741 and spent most of his working life as a violinist-composer at Prague and then Vienna. His works are utterly typical of their place and period, as can be seen from this arrangement for alto and bass flutes of no 1 of his 3 Duos, Opus 14, for viola and cello.
