These arrangements complement my Seven Christmas Carols for recorder quartet. They are: Reger's Maria Wiegenlied; the Austrian carol, Still, still, still; the delightful Polish Lulajze Jezuniu (Lullaby, baby Jesus); Kirkpatrick's Away in a Manger; and the sixteenth-century Sweet was the Song the Virgin Sung. With the exception of the Reger, which is in effect a transcription of parts of the original for voice and piano, these are arrangements designed to give interest, however simple the songs, to the individual parts - not forgetting the tenor and bass. Sweet was the Song is the Egerton MS version, originally for voice and bass instrument. The inner parts are my own addition.
