The third in my collection of Celtic communion anthems (or perhaps they are songs that can feel like anthems…). This one was inspired by that wonderful anonymous Irish melody set to words by Thomas Moore and known as ’Oft in the stilly night’. The parts are simple, so relax and sing it gently, and be lulled into that sense of peace that lies at the heart of the eucharist. These Celtic anthems are extremely popular with congregations, who find them very moving.
