’Sun God Ra!’, is a collection of songs that follow the mythical journey of Ra as he makes his daily pilgrimage across the sky, watching over his loyal Egyptian subjects. This journey is undertaken in a boat crewed by several of His relatives. When night falls he enters the underworld where he does battle with the fierce snake-like creature Apep. If he defeats the creature Ra is reborn and the following day will be bright and sunny, and everyone will be optimistic about its prospects. If Ra loses the battle then storm clouds will blight the day and the omens are dire.

This is the first song in the cycle featuring Ramases, his son and the court. Ramases explains to his son the importance of the Sun God - a deity many Pharoahs chose to include in their own title.
