Dido’s famous lament ("When I am laid in earth, may my wrongs create no trouble in thy breast. Remember me, but, ah, forget my fate.") from Henry Purcell’s opera "Dido and Aeneas" was written for the "young gentlewomen of Mr. Josiah Priest’s Boarding School in Chelsea." The opera is considered the first opera in English. Here it is arranged for string quartet. It has, on occasion, been requested for funeral services.
