This present piece is the second of the six sonatas or sonatinas (B. 6011) ’for harpsichord or piano with violin ad lib.’ The fiddle part is negligible, and the sketchy keyboard left hand suggests that it is really an unmarked figured bass with a fair amount of filling-in required. This, together with the fact that these sonatas are themselves pieced together from earlier works, encouraged me to arrange some of them freely. The melody and much of the bass part are Pleyel’s, but I have added quite a bit to make it interesting for the three individual instrumentalists. A charming work and, like no 1, here making its first appearance as a flute trio.
