Mattachins is a traditional tune from the mediaeval period, best known for Peter Warlock’s lovely arrangement in the Capriol Suite. This arrangement has a sort of mediaeval rhythm to it, which is quite deliberate.

I used an oboe to get more of a "sackbut" feel here, but the oboe part could just as easily be played on a flute or violin or even a third guitar. The intention in the guitar parts was to produce two equal classical guitar parts, at about grade 2 level, thus making it eligible as a simple GCSE ensemble piece.
