Gaudete was made famous in the 1970s by the folk rock group "Steeleye Span", and ever since it has been included in a large number of Christmas collections.
There are many group instrumental and vocal arrangements of this in existence. As a guitarist I felt it would work really well on guitar. It does, and here is my offering for you to try!
It is sometimes mistakenly attributed to a composer by the name of "Piae Cantiones". In fact it is anonymous. Piae Cantiones was a songbook published in Finland in 1582, which contained the first published edition of Gaudete.
