Jingle Maria is an idea I have been working on for a while. It is a new carol - full of bounce and fun - I’m seeking to fuse latin styles with rock instruments, choir and string orchestra. The level of difficulty is not too difficult but easier parts can always be assigned to 2nd violin and harder parts reassigned to 1st or dropped an octave as necessary. I needed the score to make sense from a cascading point of view hence the higher notes.
This score is full of bounce and it will be fun to play. It combines latin styles with rock instruments, choir and string orchestra in a cheeky and cheerful song. I really wanted to do a sort of Mantovani thing too…. The electric guitar part has a couple of biggish stretches which might prove interesting for smaller hands depending on the fretboard length and width. The solution, if too difficult to reach all three notes, would be to omit the highest note of the chord which is doubled by the strings anyway!
