Gaudete, Gaudete Christus est Natus - another one of those really Christmassy tunes - who didn't sing along to the Steeleye Span version? Too young to remember? Check it out. It is a wonderful vocal arrangement of this ancient carol. This version is for guitar trio with an optional treble recorder part and guitar solo that could be played by ambitious pupil or teacher. The arrangement will work equally well with or without. This features useful chordal work and the parts take the player up the fretboard a little. Some postion shifting, most parts run in at between grade 3 and grade 5 level, the solo maybe has a couple of awkward moments but grade 5/6 is about right. I hope you will enjoy playing it as much as I did, don't let the changing time signatures bother you, just count the notes, emphasize the first beats in the bar, and you'll be fine, as my old piano teacher used to say.
