This short but enjoyable flourish for three trumpets was written as a prelude to a performance of Bach's Cantata BWV 214 by the Cambridge Concentus in December 2008. I have woven three of the themes from Bach's opening chorus into the fanfare. Timpani contributions are optional, but add much to the texture.
