I fear that this exquisite hymn has been expunged from hymn books on the grounds that it is too ’Victorian’. What a shame! Anyway, I hope that, if you are lucky enough still to use Hymns Ancient and Modern Revised, you will enjoy singing/playing this arrangement. The melody is in the left hand part.

It is possible to perform this arrangement in two ways:

Either/

with the sopranos singing the descant, the rest of the choir and the congregation singing the melody, and the organ playing the accompaniment

Or/

with all the singers singing the melody and the organ playing the accompaniment.

If you use it, please be so kind as to let me know by email as I like to keep a track of when and where my works are performed.

Do have a look at my other hymn arrangements and original hymn tunes on this site. I welcome commissions for arrangements, as well as for original compositions.
