W. H. Monk’s adaptation of an old German chorale makes a splendidly dignified hymn-tune. This descant must be sung to the given organ accompaniment: it will not fit Monk’s harmonies. My organ part seeks to add excitement to the final verse, without losing the sense of Monk’s version. The organ part may be used as an alternative last verse arrangement, without the descant being sung.
