This movement is full of the playful games of the character Puck from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' on which the whole work is based. Moon themes and images are very important to the play and so in composing the sonata, I took 3 contrasting images and wove into music. For more substantial notes so the piano/flutes version. For those who know the other movement, see if you can hear all their themes playes at once in the coda of this movment! If you're interested in performing the piece, contact me for a free set of parts.
