The ’Nocturne’, though not as well known as the ’Wedding March’ from Mendelssohn’s incidental Music to ’A Midsummer Night’s Dream, also sounds well on the organ. It is not for the beginner, but plays well for someone of reasonable ability. It may be played on any organ (pipe or electronic) with at least 2 manuals and a full pedal-board. It is a good recital piece, and also a very suitable piece for a wedding interlude - e.g. when the register is being signed.
