Solo Classical Guitar - "IMPS V" is the third solo classical piece in the "IMPS" series, NOT to be confused with any of my other sinister series, that pay tribute to Fiends (not friends) and other horrible beasts of the night and to the marvelous influences, much to many's dismay and chagrin, they have had on my person and my composing. This dark and modal excerpt begins at m.16 IMPS marching figure in C# Phrygian which alternates every two bars with a B Phrygian/E Phrygian response. Measure 29 ends with a cadence on an E chord setting up a modulation to via E Phrygian to G# Phrygian. The piece could have been composed yesterday or 500 years ago. You'll have to ask the imps…
Though the "IMPS" pieces share little thematic material yet make the same sinister and haunting aura about them. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this piece as well as the other "IMPS" pieces.
