That book is also the source of the popular tune that is associated with the lyrics, "Child in a Manger" and "Morning Has Broken" (BUNESSAN). There were originally 26 verses of lyrics with this tune, LA BHREITHEANAIS, all in Gaelic and on the topic of God’s judgment. Only 4 were translated into English in the songbook. I could find no clue as to the composer of this tune, but the lyricist was known to use folk songs. Apparently the favorite topics for Scottish songs at that time were sin, death and judgment. My lyrics are on a similar topic, but not derived from the lyrics in the songbook. I was writing for a contest and based my lyrics on the lectionary texts indicated in the contest rules (Series A, Proper 28). My hymn did not win, so it is now posted to Score Exchange.
