GOD, WE COME TO YOU IN PRAYER
Words by Mary Rose Jensen
God, we come to You in prayer
Seeking help for those in need.
Those whose trials are hard to bear
Are the ones for whom we plead.
Now we lift our cries to You
Knowing that Your power is great
Mighty King of righteous rule
Listen to us as we pray.
God, we ask Your will be done
In the lives of all Your saints
As we pray for suffering ones,
Hear and act on our complaints.
Comfort those whose pain is hard.
Show Your mercy, heal and bless.
Rise according to Your Word.
Demonstrate Your faithfulness.
God who hears and answers prayer
Take all anxious thoughts away.
Lift the burdens and despair.
Grant the hope that leads to praise.
You give peace in darkest nights.
We are in Your constant care.
In Your kingdom all is right
For Your love is always there.

I wrote these new lyrics to help myself in praying. At the time, many family members, neighbors and friends at church were suffering from unemployment and/or medical problems.
