I do not know of any guitar composer of the nineteenth century that makes use of minor keys as successfully as Adam Darr. Duo IX is short work that accomplishes a lot. It is a virtual cascade of descending diatonic lines. The sophistication of harmony, though by piano standards is not impressive, for the guitar it is substantial. The first known publication of this work was in May of 1908, in the Augsburg Guitar Clubs Freie Vereinigung fr das Frderung guter Guitaremusik, Jahrgang 5, Heft I. The printers copy and the printed version are virtually identical. So much so, that both scores overlooked the what must be a g-natural in the Guitar II, m. 26. For more information on Darr see my DMA research paper "ADAM DARR (1811-1866) THE CAREER AND WORKS OF A GERMAN ROMANTIC GUITARIST AND ZITHERIST."
