Charles Lockhart (c.1738-1815) was a blind organist who lived most of his life in London. "Carlisle" is the best-known of his hymns. The words "All praise to you, O Lord" are by Hyde Beadon (1812-1891), an English priest and co-editor of "The Parish Hymn Book" (1863). This hymn is one of the few which deal with the miracle at the marriage in Cana.
