"Bacon Wrapped Wraiths" begins in 7/8 with a quartal diatonic motif in the upper voice but is soon disturbed by a curious F Aeolian figure in the bass. At m. 11, the upper voice migrates to the bass and is transfigured by one tone (the E becomes an E#). The upper voice is somewhat augmented and takes over the F Aeolian tonality.
M. 15 begins a succession of modulatory passages leading to a great ramp up to B minor. Finally, at m. 26, B minor is established with fragments of the opening theme in the upper voice which undergo several permutations until at m. 35, the opening theme is reestablished in full with a counter-melody in the bass that sets up a busy polyrhythm. There is no shelter to be had from the onslaught of technical and rhythmic demands of the piece, but it is hopefully worth the bacon.
Though the "Wraiths" pieces share little thematic material yet make the same sinister and haunting aura about them. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this piece as well as the other "Wraiths" pieces.
