Many have received comfort and inspiration from this dramatic song which draws a comparison between the challenges and experiences of mortality and earth's perils such as 'seering deserts, raging oceans, and icy mountain peaks'; but then gives much hope by continuing - "…Then, as the sun comes piercing Causing the darkness to cease, I hear the voice of my Father, And feel a most infinite peace." Our Father's voice is brought to our remembrance with the words: "Think thee that I would desert thee? Think thee that I do not care? Know thee that I would not give thee more than thou canst bear?" From the Musical Drama: "As I have Loved You" this piece is scored for Vocal Solo with SATB Choir/piano OR orchestra accompaniment, and concludes with a repeat of the "Think Thee motive" played by Violin Solo (or other instrument of choice.)
