"Spydra Hydra" is the first solo classical guitar piece in the "Hydra" series, NOT to be confused with any of my other sinister series, that pay tribute to Fiends (not friends) and other horrible beasts of the night and to the marvelous influences, much to many's dismay and chagrin, they have had on my person and my composing.

The Hydra is an expert dart player so they say.

The excerpt is the last 8 bars of the piece. Its tonal center is A, slinking from A major to A Mixolydian and finally to A Aeolian/harmonic minor in the end - just the way Hydras like it.

The piece features a 6/8-1/4 polyrhythm. The motif is employed as a counterpoint to itself first in augmentation, then in diminution. Weird, right?

In the "Hydras" series, all the pieces are thematically related unlike any of the preceding series. The music creates a similar sinister and haunting aura as in all the other series, however. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this piece as well as the other "Hydras" pieces. But one must never rush a Hydra….
