"Hy and Dra" is the second solo classical guitar piece in the "Hydra" series, NOT to be confused with any of my other sinister series, that pay tribute to Fiends (not friends) and other horrible beasts of the night and to the marvelous influences, much to many's dismay and chagrin, they have had on my person and my composing.
The Hydra is an expert dart player and brick-layer so they say.
The excerpt is bars 1-13 of the piece. It freely uses the G, Ab, A, D# germ from the first Hydra piece. The figure then undergoes a series of metric shifts by way of mutated groupings - just the way Hydras like it.
In the "Hydras" series, all the pieces are thematically related unlike any of the preceding series. The music creates a similar sinister and haunting aura as in all the other series, however. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this piece as well as the other "Hydras" pieces. But one must never rush a Hydra….
