If used appropriately, this musical cue, and others like it, seeks to help the unseasoned onlooker to see a Ceremonial Review or graduation parade as a coherent and linear experience of music and spectacle. This piece is intended to fill the sometimes off-putting silence between the arrival of the Reviewing Officer on the parade ground, and their reception of the General Salute. The piece can be looped as many times and ways as needed, and can be cut off cleanly at almost any point in the piece.

Because of its ability to loop, Right of Way can also be used as an inspection piece; but its effect is greatest when the piece is closely followed or preceeded by the “General Salute” musical cue in B-flat, as written in the Ceremonial March Card of the Air, Army and Sea Cadet March Books.
