This movement (duration 13min 37sec) was inspired by memories of Holiday Fellowship walks in the UK country-side over the years with groups of friendly people. The daily uncertainty of weather could mean a return to base with a sun-tan and sweaty clothing in blistering conditions, or soggy boots and rain-saturated attire if the heavens opened! But the joy of a pub lunch could not be denied and stoic jollity always prevailed during the return to base camp (usually a hotel) and well beyond the evening meal as dancing and other entertainment took over! In essence the movement depicts my memory of just one feature of such holidays the panoramic view of the weather in this case how the appearance of the sky can change during the course of the day from a proliferation of dark rain clouds driven along by the wind, with the sound of thunder in the air, thence changing slowly to a lighter, silvery scene and finally to a sunny, more peaceful outlook, with white wispy clouds gently floating across a colourful sky over the freshened, patchwork colours of the country-side as the wind abates. Play mp3 for good rendition.
