The Missa Modalis was originally composed for the Venerable English College, Rome, in Lent, 2008. A Gloria was added in 2010. It uses traditional modes in an attempt to capture something of the simplicity and restraint of Gregorian Chant. In a few places there are simple 3-part optional harmony voice parts. The organ accompaniment is also optional and may be omitted.
