You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices."The Londonderry Air" or "Danny Boy", alternatively known as "O�Cahan's Lament" and "The Confession of Devorgilla", remains one of the most popular Irish tunes. The song has a fascinating and long history. The melody was apparently composed by a blind harpist, Rory Dall O'Cahan, who lived between 1560 and 1660. It was claimed that the tune was given to him by the Fairies (The Little people) when he heard supernatural, ghostly hands playing his harp. Unsurprisingly, he was drunk in a ditch at the time! The first lyrics to be sung to the music were, almost certainly, "The Confession of Devorgilla".
