You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices. Most band arrangements move the key lower. Since the original is in D Major, which for Handel would have sounded 1/2 step lower than modern D Major, concert Db puts the voices in the correct pitch level. My intention is that this is to be used when a brass band joins a chorus. For times when the band is playing without a chorus, I have included an optional extra cornet part, to solidify the soprano part of the chorus. The other voices are well covered already, but the five standard cornet parts are hard-pressed to cover for 2 trumpets and two violins as well as the chorus part and still get any rest. Stating the obvious, all of the cornet parts are pretty high. I’m also aware that this may well be the final piece on a program. If performing without a choir, you may want to download at a lower key–down a half step or one-and-a-half steps.
