’HaKeras’ is a piece for solo horn dedicated to a close friend. It combines my love of music with my interests in codebreaking. The music is essentially a ’superencryption’ of a piece of fairly well known text. There are a number of encypherments that convert the text to meaningful notes. As can be seen, some note-heads possess different symbols, which reflects one of the methods of encryption used. Apart from the complex, yet interesting premise of cryptoanalysis, the score is an independent piece of musical virtuosity.[NOTE: The use of the French Horn is important to the cryptoanalysis].
