The piece begins with a short solo flute introduction, followed by a raising chromatic figure in the piano before the flute enters with the first main theme. The first movement continues with a syncopated second section before ending with a solo figure that introduces the slower second movement. Subsequent to a short cadenza, the third movement enters with a 'Riverdance-like' motif in alternate 5/8 and 6/8 time signatures. The piece ends with a short coda.
