Charles Wesley's hymn "Soldiers of Christ, arise" was first published in 1742 under the title 'The Whole Armour of God'. It refers throughout to Ephesians 6: 10-18. Sir George Elvey's tune "Diademata" was published in 1868 with the words "Crown him with many crowns". This is an arrangement for the last verse of the hymn. The organ part has been reharmonised and two descants have been added to the music.
