This song is a setting for Baritone and Piano of a Thomas Hardy poem written in 1914 in which he describes a number of insects around a lamp at midnight in August while he works at his desk, some actually land on the manuscript smudging his work. He becomes very philosophical about them, saying they are God's creatures who know more about the Earth than he does. All proceeds from any sales of this music will go to Angels Charity for Autism Support in Hertfordshire U.K. Many thanks in anticipation of your tolerant goodwill.
