Saxophonist/leader Sundar Viswanathan, percussionist Rakesh Tewari, pianist John Kameel Farah, and I are pursuing the implications and possibilities of using drone harmonic bases to explore and extend non-drone-based (or at least not typically drone-based) musics. This one creates several connected melodic sections, each with its own harmonic flavour, and each with a potentially distinct rhythmic character. The MP3 recording is an expanded version of the band, with superlative young singer Felicity Williams, and the great tabla virtuoso Ravi Naimpally.
