Originally conceived as a piece for a larger ensemble and solo trombone(!), during the writing process I realised that I was actually writing a piece more suited to a string instrument and piano (although a trombone and piano version does exist). This also suited writing a piece for my friends impending wedding (they both play violin and piano). The title is taken from a book that I hold to be one of my best reads Waterlog by Roger Deakin, which is one mans record of swimming in the wild waters around the UK.
