Undoubtedly one of the most popular encores in the musical repertoire. Pair it with Lavotta Szerenád (sold separately) to finish your program with fireworks.

Vittorio Monti was a violinist and conductor born in Naples, later moving to Paris. Although he wrote several ballets and operettas, he is known today only for this Romani inspired dance which he composed in 1904.

Csárdás is challenging but well worth the effort. The clarinettist may find it easier to play on the A clarinet so parts for both A and Bb are included.

Special care must be taken with dynamics, articulation and tempi to capture the essence of this encore. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I have.

A Brief Note from Robert Brown, our French horn player:

"The passage in bars 43 - 50 is awkward, but by no means unplayable. It is best to play it all on the B-Flat side. I sometimes play the G# in bars 43 - 44 on T-2 on the B-Flat side, rather than the more normal T-23.

Bars 48 p- 50 sit nicely in the fingers and face on the B-Flat side."
