Torero was born in late 1957 out of necessity, one might say. The two authors were, in fact, looking for the song that would allow them to conclude the album they were working on. They had already written eleven and one was missing to close the disc. It was for this need that Carosone asked Nicola Salerno for a translation. He wanted the Italian version of Espana, a great success by Perry Como. As usual, Nisa took the metric, writing on a sheet of numbers that he would then turn into words.
