You are purchasing high quality sheet music PDF files suitable for printing or viewing on digital devices.I have been fascinated by Virginia Woolf's "To the lighthouse" for several years. The second section of the book is called "Time passes". It is the shortest part, covers more time, major human events are briefly noted in parentheses, the deaths of Mrs Ramsay and her son Andrew. The rest is about the natural world, seasons. I have tried to create this musically as if this were an operatic entr'acte.
There is a musical idea for Mrs Ramsay (which also serves for the house), Mr Ramsay, and the First World War (a subconcious variation of the opening of the Libera Me from Britten's War Requiem). The rest is time (passing quickly and slowly), the airs creeping around, the sea and the beam from the lighthouse.
Technical comments, especially from percussionists and woodwind players are most welcome.
