After many years of dedicated service, the principal ’cellist of York Symphony Orchestra, Joyce Martin, retired. the rest of the orchestra clubbed together and paid for her to have a star named after her. The star is in the constellation Cassiopeia. Every year I write a piece for the ’cello section to perform at their annual chamber concert. This year contribution is named in honour of that event.
